Working in close collaboration with The Studios, we transformed over 9,000 square feet of Carl Gould’s Times Square Building, a Seattle Landmark constructed in 1916, from a quiet retail space into a bustling community and educational center. With four studios over 1,000 square feet each, two flexible classrooms and a recording studio situated within the walls of the discovered Washington Mutual vault, The Studios offers flexible spaces to all walks of the performing arts. A fully exposed set of mechanical, acoustic, theatrical, audio and building systems on both levels of the space has been highly coordinated and woven together into an ordered ceiling. The spaces showcase new crisp detailing paired with technical dance floors and exposed historic surfaces all washed white as canvas for the art practiced within them.
