Location: International District - Seattle, Washington
The Publix is an extensive preservation, renovation and new construction project in Seattle’s International District/Chinatown. The historic Publix Hotel, a former 6-story single occupant hotel built in 1928, was renovated to preserve the history and character of its existing spaces. A new building was built adjacent to the hotel to provide in total 120 new market rate apartments and 12,000 SF of street-level retail space for the community. Amenities include a roof terrace, common spaces, fitness room and parking. The commercial spaces at the ground level are organized by “alleys” that converge at a central exterior courtyard.
Walking distance to downtown, and accessible to the bus, light rail, and train -plus having lots of great restaurants close by- The Publix has great appeal to urban dwellers while preserving the rich history and character of the neighborhood and ensuring its longevity.
